Last Days in Costa Rica- Horse-Back Riding and Day in San Jose

The pictures tell the story in this post!  Christopher and I had a great day horse-back riding in the jungle and enjoyed the waterfall swim!  Shannon stayed back in the condo and relaxed.  Christopher loved to keep the horses galloping and I tried to slow my horse down! ha!  We saw lots of amazing plants and some animals too.

The last photos show us travelling from Manuel Antonio, on the southern coast, to the capital city of San Jose.  The scenery enroute was beautiful...I loved the fruit stands all along the way! We stayed our last night in a wonderful Cariari B&B run by an American woman named Laurie.  She showed great hospitality by letting us enjoy the afternoon at the nearby Golf and Country Club!  We had a good last day in Costa Rica eating take-out pizza, sipping an exotic juice made from a white pulped fruit, and listening to the parrots downstairs that shouted words in Spanish!  Shannon and Christopher loved the pet dogs and were very excited about the next leg of their journey....up to Port Canaveral, Florida to take a cruise!  Stay tuned!

Palm Plantation along the way...these replaced the banana plantations of the past.

Our guide gave us a tour of the Palma Tica and told us  it was run by a Nicaraguan company.

Here is the palm seed that are used to make cooking oil and cosmetics.

Brenda heading out horse-back riding in the jungle.

Here we are along the way!

Christopher was in his element riding a horse...here he goes charging into the Costa Rican jungle!

Brenda swimming by the waterfall but Christopher is not so sure about this cold water...

Christopher decided to jump in and join the fun!

A beautiful butterfly I saw along the way...

Our guide showed us some vanilla beans along way, growing by the side of the road coming into the village.

Christopher is looking at a cinnamon tree in the centre of the picture (it is dark colored and even the leaf smells like cinnamon!)

Some peppercorn plants along the way (the kind that we put in our pepper mills at home).

Christopher at the end of the day, looking at the ranch we left from.

These bird of paradise plants are all over the jungle and by the side of the road in Costa Rica!

Here I am holding a Mia mia flower (I think I got the name right).  It grows on a big tropical tree in Costa Rica and is  the main ingredient in Chanel No. 5 perfume!

This was a far away shot of a toucan bird way up a tree.

Don't laugh...I thought this was facinating and reminded me of an Indiana Jones movie or something...it is a long line of army ants all carrying a small piece of a leaf!

Christopher and Shannon standing by their luggage at the entrance of the condo as we wait for our shuttle bus to San Jose.

What a beautiful country...here is a typical view I saw a lot of grazing cattle and rolling hills.

This is just one of hundreds of beautiful trees covered in flowers we saw along the way.

This a a typical Costa Rican house...cute and well maintained.

We were following behind a mango truck full to the brim with juicy fruit!  It grows year-round in Costa Rica!

Here we are at a restaurant bus stop along the way...I had rice and beans, a typical meal here.

The Costa Rican countryside.

This is one of hundreds of fresh fruit stands along the roads all over the country.

Shannon entering our Bed and Breakfast in San Jose...it was beautiful!

Brenda onn the winding staircase.

Shannon and Christopher were allowed to spend the afternoon at the nearby Golf and Country Club and it was very posh1

Christopher in the large lane pool!
Shannon showing off a mango in a mango tree!

Christopher enjoyed the dogs outside!

There were parrots outside the house and wow, were they every noisy!

Bye, Bye, Costa Rica, we were sad to leave you!
